As the Puget Sound’s top-selling new home community, Tehaleh has quickly become a haven of Northwest living with its strong sense of community, outdoor lifestyle and on-site activities for the whole family, including pet-friendly amenities.

Tehaleh was designed to offer a heightened Pacific Northwest quality of life. On May 31, visitors can start the morning with a 5k Run and Pet Walk through a portion of Tehaleh’s 7.5 miles of trails. The scenic course will provide stunning views of Mt. Rainier as it follows the community’s extensive trail system that weaves through parks, pines, wetlands, alpine meadows and forest.

After the run, the festivities kick into high gear from 11 a.m.  –  6 p.m., with a special visit from Rhubarb, the Tacoma Rainiers mascot, from 10:30 to noon at The Post, Tehaleh’s community gathering and information center. The Post features handcrafted Italian coffee from Caffé D’arte and sandwiches, salads and pastries from CJ’s Deli. Kids will love the real fruit smoothies and four-legged visitors will enjoy a free biscuit treat. Dr. Tara Evans will be on hand until 4 p.m., for Tehaleh’s own Ask a Vet, where she will answer pet health questions and offer veterinary advice on everything from lizards to horses.

The Tails and Trails event is an ideal time to explore the Tehaleh model homes. Visitors can tour homes from five renowned builders— Lennar, Pulte Homes, Quadrant Homes, Richmond American Homes and Trilogy at Tehaleh.

A stroll through the model homes reveals that Tehaleh’s builders have taken the time to understand the features and high-end designs today’s buyers look for in a home. A variety of models and distinctive architecture allow buyers to choose a home that best fits their family’s lifestyle. The newest model home for Trilogy, Tehaleh’s active adult neighborhood, features a fabulous outdoor shower, the perfect place to wash the dog after a walk on the trails to keep dirt from coming inside the house.

Following the model home tour, visitors can enjoy a feast of flavors at the gourmet food trucks, whose offerings are sure to satisfy post-run appetites. Stella Fiore Wood Fired Pizza will be serving up slices of their delicious pizzas, made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients. The Contigo food truck will offer their “life-changing tacos”, a modern twist on traditional Mexican fare. Local caterer and author Nicole Aloni will dish up her take on natural, healthy and delicious Northwest cuisine.

Kids are guaranteed to love the face painting, where they can look like their favorite furry friend. A large, inflatable slide and pirate ship bounce house will burn off energy and a petting zoo with baby pygmy goats, lambs, piglets, bunnies, chicks and ducklings will give kids an exciting opportunity to get up close and personal with these fuzzy animals.

The Tacoma Humane Society will have an on-site adopt-a-pet for those looking to add a new pet to their family, and a portion of the Tails and Trails proceeds will benefit animals at the Humane Society.

After all the fun, those looking to extend their stay can enjoy a sweeping view of the sun setting on Mt. Rainier at one of Tehaleh’s seven parks. Sprouts Holler, the closest park to the model homes, features a playground for the kids and relaxing lawn area with picnic tables for adults. Those seeking solitude can catch the sight of birds flying through the trees at Yonder Park and sit and relax by the tranquil pond. Or, visitors can explore Tehaleh’s newest park, Boulder Dash, featuring a playground, picnic spot, expansive lawn, and climbable boulders.

A trail map is available at The Post for those visitors who would like to return to Tehaleh for a hike, run or just to explore the natural surroundings and search for signs of wildlife.

Tehaleh is owned in a joint venture between two strong companies; North America Sekisui House, LLC (NASH), the U.S. business unit and full subsidiary of Sekisui House Ltd., Japan’s largest homebuilder and leading diversified developer, and American Newland Communities, LLC, whose development business, Newland Communities, is the master developer of Tehaleh. Collectively, the NASH-Newland partnership owns or manages more than 30 communities across the country.

Walking pets out in nature, spotting deer, and listening to the birds sing is all part of the Tehaleh lifestyle. Experience a slice of life at Tehaleh with your pet at the Tails and Trails event. For more information, visit https://www.databarevents.com/tailsandtrails5k.
