A Second Look: Sumner Food Bank Welcomes Your Donations

Next time you go grocery shopping, pick up a few extra cans of spaghetti, stew and ravioli to help the local food bank.

While driving past the Sumner Food Bank last Thursday, I noted a specific request on the reader board:

We need canned spaghetti, stew and ravioli.

A simple request, really, and we made sure the local resource was still in need of these items this week before passing along the message, so if you've a few extra cans in your pantry, consider bringing them down.

The food bank is open to donations 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays though staff request donations be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. as there are more people available to help with unloading.

Want to know what's happening at the food bank of late? Patch blogger and Sumner Downtown Association director Laurie Miller recently shared this update with readers, which is also available in the February 2013 SDA newsletter (pdf).
