Columbia Bank Announces Spring Food Drive at Local Banks Beginning This Week

The Bankers Care 2013 Spring Food Drive will benefit Northwest Harvest and local food banks.

Spring, the “season of renewal,” is not so pretty for Puget Sound-area food banks. This time of year typically brings a drop in donations and dwindling staples on the shelves, leaving many regional food banks faced with the growing challenge in meeting critical hunger needs, including those here in Pierce County.

Aiming to change this trend, Columbia Bank will be lending a hand to make an important difference for hungry people in our community during the Bankers Care 2013 Spring Food Drive, March 18 through April 5.

The campaign is part of Bankers Care – Lending A Hand In Our Community, a new outreach program sponsored by the Washington Bankers Association (WBA). As a WBA member institution, Columbia Bank joined in the Bankers Care program, which focuses on the many ways bankers can help meet the vital needs of people across the state.

“Bankers Care and Columbia Bank share a common goal to support and give back to the communities we live and serve in,” said Melanie Dressel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia. “Lending a hand to this thoughtful campaign and food drive helps our neighbors and strengthens our community. We encourage our customers and partners to get involved.”

During the three week Spring Food Drive campaign, Columbia Bank branches will be taking donations at various Pierce County locations including:

Because Northwest Harvest works with local food banks throughout the region, contributions collected at our branches will directly support our local community. Columbia Bank customers along and members of the local community are encouraged to participate. Cash donations are also accepted and can be made directly online at www.bankersinwacare.com.

Additional efforts to raise public awareness are being provided through a campaign partnership between the WBA and Fisher Broadcasting. To learn more Bankers Care and the 2013 Spring Food Drive visit www.bankersinwacare.com.

NOOOOO! A community Center with pool in conjunction with the school district first. The YMCA isRead More good enough but it is a corporation for itself, not for our community.
