Community Invited to Join Books on Tapps at Bonney Lake Pierce County Library

The free discussion group, Books on Tapps, meets on the following Thursdays at 7 p.m.

Oct. 24
 – “Seriously—I’m Kidding” by Ellen DeGeneres
The standup comedian, television, best-selling author and actress candidly discusses her personal life, her professional career and what it was like to be a judge on “American Idol.” 

Dec. 5
 – “Home Cooking” by Laurie Colwin
Essays as much about eating as cooking by this former columnist for Gourmet magazine. 

Jan. 30
 – “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society “ by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
A London author finds inspiration for her next book, from a unique book club formed as an alibi to protect its members from arrest by the occupying Germans during World War II. 

Feb. 27
 – “At Home: A Short History of Private Life” by Bill Bryson
Bryson takes readers on a tour of his house, a rural English parsonage, showing how each room has figured in the evolution of private life. 

March 27
 – “The House at Riverton” by Kate Morton
On the eve of a glittering 1924 society party at a grand English country house, a young poet takes his life. The only witnesses—two sisters—will never speak to each other again. 

April 24
 – The group will enjoy the book selected for Pierce County READS, a community one book program that encourages everyone in Pierce County to read and discuss the same book at the same time. 

May 29
 – “Honeymoon in Tehran: Two Years of Love and Danger in Iran” by Azadeh Moaveni
The author describes her return to Iran as a reporter for Time magazine, her marriage to an Iranian man, the impact of the repressive Iranian society, and her family's decision to leave Iran. 

June 26
 – “The Descendants” by Kaui Hart Hemmings
A descendant of royalty and one of the largest landowners in Hawaii struggles to deal with his out-of-control daughters—and his comatose wife, who soon will be removed from life support. 

July 31
 – “Mrs. Kennedy and Me” by Clint Hill, with Lisa McCubbin
The Secret Service agent for the glamorous and intensely private Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy went from reluctant guardian to fiercely loyal watchdog and, in many ways, her closest friend.
