GET OUT: Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Street Parade, Raised Garden Bed Workshop

• Where/When: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in downtown Sumner.

• Why Go: The Grand Floral Street Parade is the highlight of Festival Week. The parade travels through the four cities of Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner and Orting and consists of roughly 40 floats and more than 80 other entries, including bands, marching and mounted units. The floats are decorated with fresh-cut daffodils, numbering in the thousands. Check out this from last year’s parade.

Can't get enough of the Daffodil Festival? Join the Sumner High School Marching Band tomorrow, Friday April 13, at the "Pre-Daffodil Performances" at 6:30 p.m. All the local middle and high school bands in the parade will be on the field and playing their marching music.

• Why Go: Join Kelli Sugihara from Washington State University’s Puyallup Research & Extension Center as she leads a raised bed gardening class at the Bonney Lake Library.
• Cost: Free.

• Where/When: 12 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Pierce College’s Arts and Allied Health Building in Puyallup.

• Why Go: Visit Pierce College for this special engagement with award-winning author Jamie Ford. He’ll be discussing his newest book, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Stick around after the discussion to get your book signed.
• Cost: Free.

• Where/When: 7 a.m. Sunday, April 15, at Orting Middle School.

• Why Go: The Daffodil Classic winds through the beautiful Orting valley and surrounding hills. Bring your bike, trike, tandem or unicycle--all cyclists are welcome! There are routes for families, recreational cyclists and serious roadies.
• Cost: $30 per person.

• Where/When: 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, at in Enumclaw.
• Why Go: Start off the weekend by letting out your inner poet at this Poetry Jam from Arts Alive! This is your chance to share some of your original poems. Or, if public speaking isn't your thing, just come down to listen and enjoy the readings.
• Pricing: Free.

• Where/When: 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at in Enumclaw.

• Why Go: Step up your wine game this Sunday at Rendezvous. $20 pays for your wine and snacks, and you may even learn a thing or two!
