Lake Tapps Polar Bear Plunge Ushers in 2012

Over 100 people dove into Lake Tapps on New Year's Day to ring in 2012.

Some dipped in toe first, others ran full force across the banks of Driftwood Point Park to hit the frigid waters of Lake Tapps and ring in 2012 with shivering style.

Over 100 people gathered together for the Lake Tapps Polar Bear Plunge around noon on New Year's Day. What started as a bet between friends who jumped off their dock at midnight at New Year's Eve is now a community tradition for local families, six years running.

Participants brought donations for the Bonney Lake Food Bank and enjoyed a warm fire by the shores after the plunge.
