Meet Eve and Lacey

Give the gift of a loving home this holiday season.

Both of last week's pets were adopted and it was another successful week for cats at .

In addition to the many successful adoptions, the Metro shelter received an abundance of pet food donations for the holidays -- so much in fact that they are donating to those with pets in need.

Metro Animal Services will close early, at 2 p.m. on Dec. 31.  They will also be closed on New Year's Day. Normal hours will resume on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.

Meet Eve

This gray and orange calico feline was found as a stray in the Edgewood area on Dec. 17.  At approximately 10 months old, mellow and quiet Eve can be a bit skittish around new people. However, she has warmed up considerably during her time at Metro. Her hesitant personality will make her a great addition to an adult home rather than one with children or constant activity. She has shown to be comfortable around other pets, especially cats.

Meet Lacey

Lacey was most recently surrendered by her family on Dec. 21. This gentle and well-mannered dog is truly homesick and would make a great addition to your home. Clearly a family animal, this dog has much love and attention to give. She will work well with children as is typical of her Labrador breed. Lacey is blind in her right eye and has some hip sensitivity from being hit by a car when she was a puppy. At only 3 years old, this dog has lots of love and life left in her. Although her hip prohibits her from being a 5K running partner, she will surely benefit from easy walks and romps in the backyard. Some exercise will do her frame good with ample opportunities to rest and recuperate during activity. She has shown some basic obedience though could benefit from some additional learning as well as a trip to the groomer and a vet to clear up a possible skin condition.

From now through January, when you adopt a pet, you will receive a special coupon packet from IAMS that offers over $45 in discounts. You can learn more about IAMS' program at http://www.animalcenter.org/home4theholidays/.
