Temporary Lane Closures Start Today Along SR 410 In Bonney Lake

New sidewalk to be built opposite Albertsons store between 198th and 208th Avenue.

Starting today, the outside westbound lane on State Route 410 between 198th and 208th Avenue in Bonney Lake will have temporary lane closures from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 1.

The closures will allow construction of a new sidewalk on the north side of SR 410 to be built in that area. The sidewalk will be constructed opposite Albertsons.

The only alternate route is to use the Sumner-Buckley Highway instead of SR 410, said Dan Grigsby, Public Works Director for the City of Bonney Lake. There will not be a detour posted since one lane of traffic will always be open.

There will also be a day or two where the traffic signals at the intersection of South Prairie Road and 198th Avenue will be turned off for a few hours. Those dates have not been announced yet. A Bonney Lake Police Officer will direct traffic during that time.

The sidewalk construction contract will cost $804,932. In 2009, the city received a Washington State Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Grant worth $841,000 that will help pay for the design and construction of the project.

During the construction, drivers are encouraged to follow the Rules of the Road and drive defensively, Grigsby said.
