THIS WEEKEND: Holiday Crafts, Breakfast With Santa, Tree Lighting

Lighted Santa Parade

  • Where/When: Pioneer Park in Puyallup; Saturday, Dec. 1, 5 p.m.
  • Why Go: Bring the kids down to welcome Santa on one of Puyallup’s finest fire engines! Included in the festivities is the Holiday Market (10 a.m. – 9 p.m.) in the Pioneer Park Pavilion and the lighting of the Community Tree in the Park.
  • Cost: Free

 

Join Santa and East Pierce Firefighters for Breakfast

  • Where/When: City of Sumner Fire; Saturday, Dec. 1, 7 a.m. to noon
  • Why Go: East Pierce firefighters will be flipping flapjacks and serving ham, coffee and orange juice. Santa will be there to meet all the good girls and boys. The breakfast is a benefit to raise money for programs that provide support and services to local families in need. The firefighters will also be collecting donations of nonperishable food items and new or gently used coats, gloves, scarves, hats and sleeping bags.
  • Cost: $3

Decorate Gingerbread Houses

  • Where/When: Sumner Pierce County Library; Saturday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m.
  • Why Go: Make and decorate your own gingerbread house. All ages: under 6 with an adult. 
  • Cost: Free (Register online here.)

 

Holiday Crafts

  • Where/When: Bonney Lake Pierce County Library; Saturday, Dec. 1, noon and 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Make your own snowflake decorations for all the winter festivals.
  • There will be a wreath making event at 2p.m. Bring your gloves and pruning shears to create a fresh evergreen wreath. Registration required.

Santa Parade

  • Where/When: Sumner Downtown Association; Saturday, Dec. 1, 2:30 to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Start your holiday shopping by visiting local merchants in Sumner.  Why shop in the mall when you can find something unique in one of our quaint shops? The event includes photos with Santa. Make sure to bring one non-perishable food item for the Sumner Food Bank.
  • Cost: Free

 

Bonney Lake Tree Lighting and Food Drive

  • Where/When: East Pierce Fire & Rescue Headquarters Station; Saturday, Dec. 1, 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: The annual Bonney Lake Tree Lighting, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Bonney Lake, include cookies, hot cider and holiday music by area school children. Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson will light the tree around 6:30 p.m., followed by the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus aboard a fire engine. Food donations will be accepted at the event and from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Bonney Lake Food Bank (next door to the fire station).
