Viewfinder: 10th Annual Muckleshoot Veterans Pow Wow

Over 100 American Indian veterans were honored over the three-day event.

Veterans, dancers and singers came from across the nation to attend the 10th Annual Muckleshoot Veterans Pow Wow. The event was held Friday, June 24 through Sunday, June 26 in Auburn.

"This is the biggest pow wow on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation and it keeps on getting bigger every year," said Wendy Lloyd, vice chair of the Pow Wow committee.

The Inter-Tribal Warrior Society started the pow wow. The society is an American Indian-focused veteran's service organizations based in Auburn and is supported by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe.

"It is really nice to give all the veterans recognition for their patriotic service," said Sonny Bargala of Muckleshoot Veteran Affairs and co-founder of the Inter-Tribal Warrior Society.

Bargala has attended the pow wow every year and believes that veteran pow wow are the way American Indian communities can honor their veterans.

"It always makes me happy to see the veterans (who attend the pow wow)," said Bargala. "We get a nice mix of veterans from all over."
