Sumner School District Science Fair & Art Show features FREE Pacific Science Center Science Exhibit

See an explosion of creative talent in this all-district science and art event featuring science and art projects by students of all ages. Science fairs give students the opportunity to model the work of professional research scientists.  Students who develop science projects learn or improve their skills in scientific method and experimentation, logical thinking and problem-solving, writing and public speaking, and advanced library research.

• Pacific Science Center Science on the Go: Physics on Wheels sponsored by the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation It’s not magic; it’s physics! Explore amazing phenomena, from magnetism to magnification and from pendulums to periscopes. Can you overcome the strength of an electric magnet? Watt does it take to make an electrical circuit? Physics has it all: light, sound, electricity, and motion!
• Additional art and science activities by: Ben Franklin’s Arts & Crafts, BHS Project Lead the Way, Boeing Geology Club, Chess Table, Camp Invention, FIRST Lego League, FIRST Robotics, Pierce County Environmental Educators, Tacoma Astronomical Society, The Science Room, WSU Master Gardeners
• Pacific Science Center Super Cool Science Show on the Commons Stage at 12 Noon sponsored by the Sumner-Bonney Lake Education Foundation The three states of matter...do they matter?? Dive into the weird world of the SUPER COOL where gases become liquids and liquids become solids. In this fast-paced show, liquid nitrogen takes center stage in a variety of experiments with surprising results. Check out the Inter-Planetary Olympics - what is it like to bounce a racquetball or munch a graham cracker in the sub-zero temperatures of Pluto? Find out what causes matter to fizz, freeze, foam, and fly in the frigid zones of minus degrees!
• Art Show The District Art Show is hosted by the Sumner School District Fine Arts departments with support from The City of Sumner Arts Commission.
  
• This 3rd Annual Show celebrates the arts in public schools with pieces of art in various media created by student artists. Visitors to the show may cast a vote for their favorite work of art for the “People’s Choice Award.”

This event is free and open to the public; all children must be accompanied by an adult.
