Halloween Events on the Cheap

Find out where to hang out this weekend, at these local events in town.

It's not all about the candy, Patch readers. Alright, some of Halloween is about the candy. But trust me, there will be plenty of it.

So far, we've brought you info on how to get the , find cool local , groovy Halloween resources, and nearby .

Nope.

Patch is going trick or treating and you're invited. After we get our fill of yummy, gooey, and sticky goodness, we are going to explore some unique events that puts a spin on traditional Halloween fare.

Some of the events noted here are free.

(Sumner)

Why here: Historic downtown Sumner is a pedesterian only walk on Halloween evening for trick or treating fun for the kids.

When and where: 5-7 p.m., Oct. 31, downtown Sumner

Cost: Free

(Sumner)

Why here: Come join in the fun at the Sumner pool for a Halloween party.  Bring the kids for an evening of fun pool games and a treasure hunt.

When and where: 5-7pm, Oct. 29, Sumner Aquatics Center

Cost:  $5 per child or $4 with a can of food for the food bank

Why here: There will be fun games and activities to participate in for kids of all ages, from 'painting pumpkins,' 'Finding the Candy in the Haystack', tasty sweets and treats whipped up by the volunteer firefighters. The Firefighters will be providing information on safety while trick or treating. Kids are welcome to wear and show off their Halloween costumes.

When and where: 1-4pm, Oct. 29, East Pierce Fire and Rescue's Fire Station 19 (350 Pioneer Way E, South Prairie)

Cost: Free

(Bonney Lake)

Why here: The Bonney Lake Senior Center will be celebrating Halloween in a big way with a costume contest, minute to win it games, tricks and treats, a scary yet delicious lunch and topping the day off by making apple cider.

When and where: 10am-12pm, Oct. 31, . Call 253-863-7658 to reserve a spot.

Cost: $3

Spooky Storytelling at the Library (Bonney Lake)

Why here: The Fireside Story League offers spooky story telling. This free, no registration event shares spooky stories for the whole family to enjoy. Costumes encouraged!

When: 2 p.m., Oct. 30,

Cost: Free

Halloween Archery Fun Shoot (Puyallup)

Why here: Break out your bows and arrows and head to Puyallup to test your skills on the archery range for a Halloween shoot. You can earn candy prizes for your skills! See link for costs for admission and food.

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 29, Puyallup

Zombie Survival Training (Tacoma)

Why here: If zombies attack, would you know what to do? Could you survive? Learn how to battle zombies in this rip roaring game provided by Tacoma Tactical. Click above to see website for more details on the events and costs.

When: 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., Oct. 29-30, Tacoma

Instead of building and supporting the city, she prefers to tear down anything good and honorable. I'm so glad the voters saw fit to pass her by when she ran for election! The 28 years inbetween went to fast. You were humble and down to earth. I feel as though you were surprised at how many people you touched in your 41 years.
