Transport to the 1930's with Manestage Theatre's 'You Can't Take it With You'

Join ManeStage Theatre Company in their latest live production, 'You Can't Take it With You,' on stage at the Sumner Performing Arts Center through May 20, 2012.

Manestage Theatre’s latest production, You Can’t Take It With You, is the only non-musical of the year and will delight those who enjoy the witty and sly dialog that embodied the 1930s.

The original production of classic story was awarded the Pulitzer award for Drama in 1937, but perhaps the most memorable adaptation was the big screen classic starring Jimmy Stewart, which won an Academy Award in 1938.

The story of "happy madness" follows the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the Sycamore and Kirby families, brought together through the love of their grown children, Alice and Tony.

Presumably, the only "normal" members of their prospective families, Alice and Tony, as played by Allison Bailey and Bryce Smith, make a charming and believable couple as they navigate a fresh courtship through seemingly challenging family dynamics.

Antics ensue and the Russian dance instructor, Boris Kolenkhov, steals the scene. He's portrayed by Jeremy Lynch, who mastered the Russian accent in his third ManeStage performance.
