Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce Brainstorms New Mission Statement

President-elect suggests old rules are "old-school."

The is reviewing and planning to update its mission statement and bylaws to better fit the current business community of Bonney Lake.

President-elect suggested that prior to re-writing the mission statement, a survey should be given to current members. The survey asks its membership to share their ideas of what a chamber of commerce should do for a business community.

"The current mission statement does not reflect the culture of our current community," said Huff. "The foundations are old-school, such as the job description for Lora (Butterfield, the chamber's executive director)."

Last month, the chamber voted for Butterfield's job to be changed from a part-time to a full-time position. "Our community is changing. Keeping it up to date with what our community wants is essential," said Butterfield.

"We all have different missions and visions (for our business future in Bonney Lake)," added Butterfield. "Our current mission statement is not tangible. We need to redefine it as we adjust to our growth."
