Lake Tapps' TOP Foods to Reopen as Haggen Northwest Fresh

May 22 reopening festivities include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Northwest Fresh Food Fare, featuring local farmers and food artisans.

This is a press release from Haggen, Inc:

Haggen, Inc. is unveiling Lake Tapps Haggen Northwest Fresh, a former TOP Food & Drug store and the newest location for its Haggen Northwest Fresh concept stores.

Located at 1406 Lake Tapps Parkway East in Auburn, the store will officially reopen on Wednesday, May 22, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and other festivities.

“Lake Tapps has been a great store since we opened this TOP location in 2002. We’re excited to now invite the community to Haggen Northwest Fresh, which provides a grocery experience that is unique to this region,” said Clement Stevens, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Haggen, Inc. “Northwest Fresh is our promise to deliver homegrown quality and delightful experiences while supporting a connected community and sustainable local food economy. We are excited to bring this experience to the Auburn community.”

Haggen, one of the Pacific Northwest's leading grocery chains, launched its Haggen Northwest Fresh brand and concept store model in 2011. Northwest Fresh blossomed from the company’s 80-year history of supporting Northwest farms, ranches, fisheries and other businesses as well as its commitment to creating a lasting and sustainable local food economy in Washington and Oregon.

As a Haggen Northwest Fresh store, the Lake Tapps location will feature an even greater number of local and regional products. There will also be an increased focus on the customer experience and the store’s community involvement.

Also new to the location is the Haggen Happy Kids drop-in childcare center for shoppers. This free, fun and safe center distinguishes itself from other in-store childcare centers with its enriched, interactive environment for kids, similar to that found in quality preschool classrooms. The staff is trained in early childhood education or has extensive childcare experience. Children ages two through seven are welcome and can participate in art projects and dramatic play, or explore the reading and music library.

Haggen Happy Kids Lake Tapps will be open Mondays through Fridays, 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 am to 6 pm.

The Lake Tapps store marks the eleventh Haggen/TOP store to be remodeled into the Haggen Northwest Fresh format.

Reopening Festivities Feature Local Farmers and Food Artisans

The Grand Reopening festivities will take place on Wednesday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 11 a.m., there will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting with Rick Haggen and Lake Tapps store manager Darryl Johnson. Guests can sample Washington’s bounty through the Northwest Fresh Food Fare, which features numerous Washington state farmers and producers, including Northwest Wild Foods (Burlington), Ostrom’s Mushrooms (Olympia), Remlinger Farms (Carnation), Halfpops (Woodinville), Lulu’s Essential Granola (Ferndale), Sisters Baking Company (Edmonds) and Greek Gods Yogurt (Seattle).

Additional reopening activities include a kid’s scavenger hunt, prize wheel, grocery giveaway and cake and coffee reception.

The Northwest Fresh Food Fare continues on Friday and Saturday, May 24-25, with more local vendors, including Hempler’s (Ferndale), Rub with Love (Seattle), TwinBrook Creamery (Lynden), Garlic Jim’s Gluten-Free Pizza (Mill Creek), Seattle Chocolates (Seattle) and San Juan Salsa (Arlington).

“Our incredible local farmers and vendors are at the heart of Haggen Northwest Fresh, and we are thrilled to feature them as the centerpiece of our Grand Reopening celebrations,” said Stevens.
