QUESTION: Do You Believe Facebook is Sustainable?

There's been a lot of debate lately about the staying power of Facebook.com, after company stock has taken a plunge in the national market.

According to the Associated Press, Facebook stock has dropped to $19 in the market today, meaning the company has lost half its market value since the company's initial public offering.

It's the lowest point for the company's stock, but some analysts believe Facebook still has a powerful staying power in the future. When the company went public in May, it boasted a user base of 900 million active users. If it were a country, Facebook would be the third largest in the world after China (population: 1.34 billion) and India (population: 1.17 billion).

It seems that everyone (and their grandma) is on Facebook these days, but it also seemed that way when MySpace was first created and that site is now a virtual graveyard. As stocks dip it raised the question - is Facebook a sustainable company that can create revenue for investors?

So we put it to you, Patch users:

Do you think Facebook is here to stay? Tell us in the comments.

Remember when Yahoo was the only place to go for search? All thing go out of style over time. I'm sick of facebook already.

I still remember when MySpace was "the future" and Facebook was thought to be a flash in the pan! Crazy how quickly things change in social networking.

Facebook is stronger than Google in my opinion. There is a lot of word on the street (my husband works in Silicon Valley and we live literally just down the road from the fb campus) that Google is having internal money-hemorrhaging issues whereas at least is making money at what they do. Tech stock valuation is often based more on the rock-star status of the company on Wall Street regardless of what the company may offer as future holding power. How many rise & falls have we seen over the past decade?
