This is Libby

This week's Photo of the Week is from a mini session that I did with a dog named Libby.

This is Libby. She is a well behaved dog and very calm. The only thing is that she couldn’t be ten paces from her owner, but who would complain about that. This week’s Photo of the Week is from a mini session that I did with Libby. I was set up to do a mini portrait session with my best friend, Libby’s owner, but she ended up stealing the spot light. This was actually my first time doing an animal session and I couldn’t have been happier that she was my first subject.

Having no experience in animal photography, I used the knowledge that I had gained by reading tips and tricks from other photographers. The main tip that I learned was to get down to the animal’s level to make the image feel more interactive with the animal. I also had read that when shooting something on a lower level from you, such as children, animals, infants, etc, it makes the image feel small and not connected. Not only does it not feel connected but it also feels like looking down on them is always how you see them. Get down to their level, their world.
