Friday Morning Quarterback

Recap of the Thursday night game between the Seahawks and Eagles.

After the disappointing loss to the Redskins just four days ago.  The Seahawks needed to come in to Thursday's game against the Eagles and play hard all four quarters. Seahawks did just that, they never trailed in the game and beat the Eagles 31-14

The Seahawks were off to a rocky start.  The 12th man flag was not raised before the game started.  The Seahawks first play, they broke the huddle with only 10 players on the field and Golden Tate running on with the play clock winding down.

Seahawks' offense was all about Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch.  Marshawn's first touchdown came on a 15-yard run, after he somehow avoided being tackled.  His second touchdown came on a 40-yard break out run.  Marshawn finished the game with 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

The best catch of the night goes to Golden Tate.  He tiptoed the back of the end zone, made an amazing catch over the Eagles' defender, came down with both feet inbounds and kept control of the ball while falling to the ground.

What tipped the scales in the Seahawks favor was turnovers.  The Seahawks defense intercepted Vince Young four times.  Vince's first play from scrimmage was intercepted by Kam Chancellor, Brandon Browner had two interceptions and David Hawthorne had one that he ran back 77-yards for a touchdown.

My pet peeves of the game were Tarvaris Jackson holding onto the ball to long and being sacked.  Then the Seahawks' defense giving Vince Young to much time in the pocket to throw.  There was times I could sit and count the seconds he had to throw the ball.

Watching the Seahawks have a good game only makes me wonder what could have been.  If they would have won two out of three of their close games this season against the Falcons, Browns or Redskins.  They could have been sitting at 7-5 with a good shot at a wild card spot in the playoffs.

By the numbers:

Seahawks had 21 points off of turnovers.

Marshawn Lynch has had 100+ rushing yards in the last 4 out of 5 games.

Seahawks had only 5 penalties for 30 yards.

Eagles had 17 fewer total yards for the game then the Seahawks.

Seahawks have 11 days off until they play again Dec. 12, on Monday Night Football.

Fun fact:

Back in 2006 Vince Young and his Texas Longhorns beat Pete Carroll's USC Trojans for an upset Rose Bowl win.
