How Can You Beat the Drama in Sports?

Sports gives fans drama with fantastic finishes and last second heroics.

Being a female that enjoys sports I get asked why I love watching sports.  One reason I enjoy sports is because it's like watching a good drama.   With sports there can be a different hero and villain each game.  Then there is the drama of a last second score or a walk off homerun.  Sports is like a drama unfolding right before your eyes but without a script.  This past week there were three games that delivered that drama.

It started Tuesday night with the Mariners down 2-0 to Baltimore going into the bottom of the 8th inning.  Baltimore's pitcher had only allowed four hits until Justin Smoak came up to bat. With two men on, two outs and two strikes on him, Justin swings and smashes a three run homerun.  Giving the Mariners the lead and allowing the bullpen to shut down Baltimore in the 9th to preserve the win.

Then came Wednesday's NHL Finals with Boston vs. Vancouver.  It was looking like the game would be decided in overtime with neither team giving up a goal.  With only 18 seconds left in the game, Vancouver gets a last second goal to win the game.

Finally last night Dallas and Miami in the NBA Finals.  Miami had a double digit lead with less then 7 minutes left.  Dallas started to hit their shots and came back to tie the game.  With only 3.6 seconds left Dallas hits the go ahead field goal for the win.

There is no show on television that can deliver that kind of drama like a game that ends with last second heroics.  Like any good show you have those you root for and those your heart goes out to, like the Boston goalie who gave up the winning goal.  I will take watching sports over a drama any day, because with sports you can't write a better script.
