My Wish List for the Seahawks in the Off-Season

What I would tell Pete and John to do in the off-season.

If I could have a meeting with Pete Carroll and John Schneider to tell them what I would like to see happen in the off-season this is what I would tell them.

*  Make sure Asst. Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach Tom Cable stays with the Seahawks and we don't lose him to any of the head coaching vacancies.  I was happy when they hired him last year but did not realize what an impact he would have on the offense.  That offensive line was horrible in 2010.  What a difference a year makes, even with the shorten training camp and injuries Tom Cable was able to turn it around.  He was a big part of why the offensive line was so improved and why Marshawn Lynch was able to rush for over a 1,000 yards this season.

*  Go get a starting quarterback.  Tarvaris Jackson will make a good back up quarterback, at this point he does not have what it takes to lead a team.  I want them to trade up in the draft and get Robert Griffin III (RG3).  I have a feeling he may be the Cam Newton of the 2012 season.  If Green Bay doesn't put the franchise tag on Matt Flynn he will be a free agent and has already worked with John Schneider.

*  Figure out how to get tight end Zach Miller more involved with the offense.  He was a good signing last season but was not utilized as a tight end. He spent more time blocking then catching passes.

*  Get the important free agents resigned.  Marshawn Lynch being the top priority.  However they need to figure out a good contract.  Running backs don't have a long shelf life, I would like to see a 3-4 year contract.  Red Bryant and David Hawthorne are the other two priority players I want to see resigned.  There was just something fun about watching Big Red out there playing.  The one resigning I do not want to see is Charlie Whitehurst.(Sorry Charlie!)

*  I am looking forward to seeing the rookies improve with a full off season of mini-camps and a full training camp.  Wide receivers Doug Baldwin and Ricardo Lockette made a big impression this season.  Ricardo was brought up from the practice squad with only two games left in the season, I liked what I saw.  You can't coach speed you either have it or you don't and Ricardo has it.   Just think of all the defensive rookies that stood out this season and will benefit from a full off season Richard Sherman, K.J. Wright and a healthy James Carpenter.

*  Continue with the great off season bargin finds like Doug Baldwin and Brandon Browner.

*  If they are not going to trade up in the draft, I would be happy with them taking the best available player out there.  If they don't resign Marshawn Lynch they may be looking for a running back.

*  While I have their attention their are a few things the fans might appreciate.  Cheaper parking, lower beer prices and preseason tickets that don't cost as much as regular season tickets.  Also the loyal fans that come out early to tailgate deserve the space to do so.  One of the best parts of the football game day experience is tailgating with others.

Only six and a half months till the opening of training camp.  Let the countdown begin.
