Bonney Lake-Sumner Patch is A Year Old

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me!

It's been a year already! Patch readers, can you believe it?

We launched Bonney Lake-Sumner Patch one year ago today, and I must say, it's been quite a ride. Covering two vibrant towns isn't easy, but it's been the most worthwhile endeavor I've ever undertaken!

I have been honored to get to know and work with all of you, Bonney Lake and Sumner fans and residents, to bring important local issues to the community. From our coverage on to and , local development has never been far from our radar. We've attended countless city council meetings and covered everything from the to Mayor Neil Johnson's .

Over the last year, Bonney Lake-Sumner Patch has introduced local bloggers, increased the number of videos and photo galleries on the site and worked to provide users with content that makes their lives easier.

Not only have we grown and improved, but Bonney Lake-Sumner Patch has established itself as the source where the community goes for all things local.

It’s a great feeling.

Still, the most rewarding thing about our first year has nothing to do with a story or blog. It’s the countless residents who have e-mailed, allowed me to speak to their group or chatted with me at an event.

It’s the people here that make Bonney Lake and Sumner what they are. The stories from people who have lived on the plateau for generations or use their own resources and time to help local children thrive - that’s the stuff that I’ve enjoyed the most. You'd think we've covered just about everything at this point -- but frankly, we aren't even close. This area has countless stories to share and things to cheer for.

The biggest compliment comes when someone tells us we’re bringing the community together. It warms my heart when people thank Patch for just being there as a place to sound off about what matters to them, or when readers email me with tips and thank our team for the work we do.

After a whirlwind first year in which Patch jumped and planted its roots in Bonney Lake and Sumner, your comments, thanks and participation in our site is more than I could ever hope for.

So here’s to another year, Bonney Lake-Sumner Patch. Cheers!
