Confirmed: No Fireworks in Orting, Puyallup this Fourth of July

Local groups that typically host fireworks displays in neighboring towns Orting and Puyallup will not have shows this year.

It's sad news for fireworks fans -- neighboring towns Orting and Puyallup will not host fireworks shows this year.

After some readers expressed doubt about the Pierce County fireworks show list, Patch called the cities of Orting and Puyallup and administrators confirmed that neither town will host a public event this year.

Puyallup's Foursquare Church is still hosting CityBlast, a 5K/10K event sponsored by the YMCA, but sans-fireworks. Visit their website for more information.

If you own a boat, head out on Lake Tapps this Fourth to enjoy the Tapps Island Association annual fireworks show. Non-members are not allowed on the island but residents can enjoy the show from vantage points on the lake, including Driftwood Point Park and North County Park.

Tapps Island is sure to light up the skies this year -- Patch spoke with Tapps Island Association general manager John Clark, who said this year's event is bigger than ever with lots of community support and donations.
