Teen Driver Airlifted to Hospital After Hitting Pole on Orville Road

An 18-year-old driver was airlifted to Harborview early Sunday morning after leaving the roadway and hitting a pole on Orville Road.

A young driver was airlifted to Harborview early this morning after he struck a pole with his car on SR 162 in Orting, according to a release from the Washington State Patrol.

The 18-year-old was driving eastbound on Orville Road in a grey Mazda at 1:27 a.m. when he left the roadway to the right, hitting a pole.

This accident is under investigation and police don’t believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.

"The collision on SR-162 this morning was NOT weather/road condition related. The driver told us he fell asleep," WSP Trooper Guy Gill tweeted.
