  • Where/When: 5:30 -10:30 p.m. Sat, April 9 at
  • Why Go: The Bonney Lake Lions Club is hosting the 5th Annual Death by Chocolate Dinner and Auction, hosted by the Bonney Lake High School Culinary Arts Program. All proceeds benefit the Bonney Lake Lions and Lions 4 Kids House, which helps needy local children with clothing and other basic necessities.
  • Pricing: $20 presale, $25 at the door


  • Where/When: 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. Sat, April 9 at the The Buckley Eagles Club off 410 in Buckley.
  • Why go: Don't forget to practice your poker face before this event, you'll need it. It's a Texas Hold'em tournament fundraiser with a first place prize of $1,000.00. For more information take a look at the event's Facebook page.
  • Pricing: Poker Event participant tickets are $50. Tickets can be purchased at Anytime Fitness in Orting, Anytime Fitness in Buckley, and the Firehouse Pub in Buckley. Proceeds will be used to support Buckley Relay For Life.

  • Where/When: 9am on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at the City Hall Saloon in Enumclaw.
  • Why Go: If live music is what you're after this weekend, you wont find it in Bonney Lake or Sumner. Try making the short drive into Enumclaw to the City Hall Saloon. Max Renshaw will be pumpin out his bluesy, country, rock tunes all weekend long. Check out the Max Renshaw Myspace Page and sample a few songs to see what you're in for.
  • Pricing: No cover.

Dive & Travel Expo 2011

  • Where/When: Saturday and Sunday at the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center (1500 Broadway, Tacoma, WA 98402)
  • Why Go: This event is huge for any diving enthusiasts out there. It's the only Dive Expo in the Pacific Northwest and it's coming to Tacoma this weekend. There will be seminars, guest speakers, specialty vendors, a film festival, and even a treasure hunt where divers will actually plunge underwater for prizes near Owen Beach in Tacoma. 
  • Pricing: Expo tickets are $15 for attendees. Treasure hunt registration is $35.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Chase Garden in Orting.
  • Why go: If your weekend plans involve upgrading the flowers or plants in your garden, you should probably check out this Spring Plant Sale at Chase Garden. The sale will feature early blooming groundcovers, perennials and woodland wildflowers. Even if you don't pick anything new up, the walk around this beautiful garden will make the trip to Orting worthwhile.
  • Pricing: Admission is free. (usually admission is $5)

  • Where/When: 7 a.m. Sat, April 9 in downtown Tacoma (15th Street and Pacific Ave)
  • Why Go: Looking to test the level of your fitness this weekend? You may want to check out this 5k run/walk put on by the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties. It's all for a good cause and you'll even get a t-shirt out of the deal!
  • Pricing: $35 on the day of the race or, $30 for pre-registration. Register on-line here. All proceeds benefit the YMCA's Teen Late Night Program and Scholarship Fund.
