Get Out Weekend Planner: ASB Benefit Talent Show, Native Plant Salvage

Bonney Lake - Sumner Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work, outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26 in the WSU Forest (21301 SR 410, Bonney Lake).
  • Why Go: The Native Plant Salvage Alliance invites everyone to take advantage of the digging to occur at the WSU Experimental forest in Bonney Lake. Volunteers are requested to dig plants on behalf of two recipients for one hour before digging for their own needs. The dig will benefit the Puyallup Tribe -Grandview Early Learning Center, in Tacoma and Citizens for a Healthy Bay, also in Tacoma.
  • Cost: Free.

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at .
  • Why Go: Join the Sumner High School this Friday night for their 6th Annual Benefit Night Talent Show. The talent show will help raise money for 5th Generation Sumner-ite Julie Nordyke Moltke who was diagnosed with a very rare cancer in July.
  • Cost: Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10. All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Benefit Fund.

  • Where/When: 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 at .
  • Why Go: The running club Marathon Maniac's have written a book and they'll be stopping by Fleet Feet this Saturday for a book signing.
  • Cost: Free. Books will be available for sale at the book signing.

 

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Emerald Queen Casino.
  • Why Go: Looking for a little excitement this weekend? A night of Mixed Martial Arts action might do the trick. The fight card for CageSport XIV is stacked, 10 fights in total, including one championship bout. Not exactly sure what Mixed Martial Arts is all about? This highlight video from YouTube should help you figure it out. (Note: Some scenes are graphic.)
  • Cost: Ticket prices are $35, $55 and $100.

 

  • Where/When: 6-9:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at ShoWare Center in Kent.
  • Why Go: Children of all ages can expect lots of fun at the "You Me We" festival this Friday. The second-annual family event is a celebration of local talent and the many youth and teen resources available in Kent. Activities will include interactive booths, hands-on art activities, sports competitions face painting, bounce houses, games, contests, raffles, and more!
  • Cost: Free.
