Needing to return a library book or pay a parking ticket? It might have to wait till Wednesday.
Public and government offices in Bonney Lake and Sumner will be closed Tuesday in observance of New Year's Day. Other municipal services may be disrupted as well.
Many businesses will be closing early New Year's Eve—Monday, Dec. 31—and will remain closed Tuesday. Check with the businesses by phone to make sure.
If you are looking for a place to eat, be sure to call the restaurant or diner ahead of time.
Movie theaters in the area—including the Bonney Lake Tall Firs—that are open can be found here, along with movies being shown and the times. You will probably want to see Les Miserables (2012) and Django Unchained before the Oscar nominations are announced in January.
Here's a quick look at what public buildings will be closed when:
- Sumner's Senior Center is closed on New Years Day.
Sumner and Bonney Lake branches of the Pierce County Library
- The library will close early on Monday, Dec. 31, at 6 p.m. and remain closed through Tuesday, Jan. 1.
- The Sumner schools district office will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.
- School resumes Thurs., Jan. 3, 2013.
- The Sumner and Bonney Lake Post Offices will be closed on Tuesday in observance of the holiday.
- Garbage will not be collected on New Years Day but service will resume the following day. Find your collection schedule here.
