High winds are gusting across the Plateau this morning -- Pierce County Alert warns residents to be prepared.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Wind Advisory in effect from 1 am to 1 pm on Monday.

A strong front will make landfall late tonight and Monday morning. Strong easterly pressure ahead of the front will affect the normally windy areas around Enumclaw and Buckley.

Wind is expected east to southeast from 20 to 30 mph with local gusts to 50 mph likely late tonight and Monday morning.

Strong winds can topple trees and cause power outages.
A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely.
