Sumner Fireworks Laws: Where Can You Set Them Off and When

Celebrating the Fourth of July in Sumner? Know the rules before you light off your fireworks.

If you live in the city of Sumner or plan to celebrate the Fourth of July in town this year, know the rules before you light any sparklers, Roman candles or poppers. The Sumner Police Department will be enforcing the following:

  • Fireworks may be discharged only on July 4 from noon to midnight.
  • Fireworks may be sold June 28 at noon through July 4 at 9 pm. Applications for stands must be submitted by June 15.
  • No one under the age of 16 years may possess or discharge any fireworks unless directly supervised by a responsible adult.
  • Discharge of fireworks is not allowed on City property including parks and parking lots.
  • Discharge of fireworks on someone else’s property without the owner’s permission is not allowed.
  • Discharge only legal fireworks (listed at right).
  • Always have a water bucket present, never relight "duds," and never alter fireworks.
