White River Project and Lake Tapps Centennial Celebration

The White River Project, including Lake Tapps and the Powerplant, turns 100 years old this year!  Come join the free community celebration: 

Tour the Powerhouse

  • Tours begin every half hour, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Space on the tours is limited and available on the first come basis by signing up at the event. The Powerhouse is not an ADA compliant facility.  Individuals interested in going on the tour should be aware that there are a series of steep staircases on this tour, as well as extensive walking.

  • Members of the Greater Bonney Lake Historical Society (BLHS)  have prepared displays and a slideshow of historic photos of the White River Project.  Along with BLHS members, retired PSE employees and Cascade staff will be on hand to talk about the project and answer your questions.  Winona Jacobsen's book Images of the Bonney Lake Plateau(with a chapter on the White River Project) will be available for sale, as will the BLHS's new 2012 Calendar. Sales of the book and calendar benefit the BLHS.  Watch for a special center pull-out in the September 28th edition of the Bonney Lake Courier Herald focusing on the White River Project Centennial and this community celebration.

  • Enjoy live old time music by the band "1928", fun activities for kids, free picnic food, and a taste of Centennial birthday cake for all.  And be sure to visit the Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce at their booth at the event, too!
