Is a Photo Contest Just What the Lake Tapps Community Needed?

Lake Tapps Best of Summer 2011 Photo Contest proves real popular with the I Love Lake Tapps Facebook community and even beyond.

Surprised and somewhat shocked. That's how Liz Johnson and Heidi North of I Love Lake Tapps and Keller Williams Realty are feeling about the simple photo contest they launched on Facebook on Friday, September 23rd.

The contest is so simple and that might be why there has been so much participation.  Anyone can post their favorite photo of Summer 2011 onto the I Love Lake Tapps Facebook wall and then it's later downloaded to the official Contest Album. Whomever gets the most "likes" wins a $50 gift card to Red Robin.  Contest ends October 7th.

Why are they surprised?  Because in just the first five days of the contest, 55+ photos have been uploaded by residents, hundreds of people have liked or commented on those photos, and 40+ new people have joined their Facebook fan page.  The other component that makes this story "newsworthy" is the comments people are leaving.  It's obvious that many of these photos have struck an emotional cord with people local and abroad.

Aside from "Amazings," "Beautifuls," and "Awesomes," the photos have seemed to stir up a bit of nostalgia in folks.  Many comments on different photos refer to their own memory of being on the lake.  Here are some of the comments Facebook Fans have left- "Lake Tapps is awesome ... I need to visit!" -  "I MISS IT! SUCH GREAT MEMORIES FOR ME!" -  "Beautiful pics. My best memories are from the lake." -  "That's so heart warming!!" -  "This is so awesome! Who are these people? Forget that, I wish I was out there with them!" -  "This is so Great! I want this picture hanging in my house somewhere! It's honestly gorgeous!!"

So why did Liz and Heidi start the contest?  Because the point of I Love Lake Tapps is to bring the community together and to show the rest of the world what a gorgeous place it is to live.  What better way to do that than with the sharing of photos?
