Home Depot, Taco Time, Kitsap Bank, along with students from Bonney Lake High School, Eagle Scouts and Open Life Church are just a handful of sponsors and volunteers, respectively, who are support this year's 10th Annual Beautify Bonney Lake event coming up Saturday, Sept. 21.

Each year, the project that involves both the local non-profit Beautify Bonney Lake along with the City of Bonney Lake gets between 500 to 700 volunteers who take part in helping keep the city beautiful, according to a press release issued by Beautify Bonney Lake.

Organizers identify 20 to 23 sites, or more, per year in and near the city that benefit from the volunteer help.

For those interested in volunteering, Beautify Bonney Lake is a three-hour event. Volunteers arrive at the Bonney Lake Park and Ride behind Wendy's (home base) 8:30 a.m. to sign up. They are assigned a work site, receive equipment and a T-shirt, meet their team leader and either walk or are transported to their work site. Volunteers are invited back to base around noon where some sponsors provide food and drinks.

Over the years, volunteers have assisted with the waterfall and signs at the western entrance to the city (or Ascent Park), multiple Fennel Creek cleanup and tree planting projects, Midtown Park trail clearing and cleanup, tree planting, landscaping, and more. View some of the projects volunteers participated in in 2011 and 2012.
