Time Sure Flies By!

Half way through the summer, getting ready for Bonney Lake Days!

Starting this week we were half way through the events for the summer. How summer has flown by!

To kick off week four of the summer programs the Pacific Science Center brought their Science on Wheels truck for some exciting displays of how science works. It was educational and fun. Kids got to show of their knowledge of elements such as H2O and CO2. The biggest part of the show was the fire balls!

Tuesday’s Kids Club was Cap’n Arr the pirate. I can’t tell you much about what I saw as I was acting as “first mate” to the pirate but it sounded like the kids enjoyed what was going on. As first mate, I was the crocodile. I was the one behind the ship sending the croc to the side of the ship to scare the pirate then getting to throw the croc at his face to “attack” him. I was also in charge of the music behind there. This was part of my “other duties” list of the job description, and this took the literal description of behind-the-scenes.

Tunes @ Tapps this was Ian Dobson. He really drew in the kid’s attention and let the parents sit back and enjoy the music. The four piece band had high energy and lots of audience participation. Dobson brings his steel drums from Trinidad and talked about where they came from and why steel drums came about. The band sounded great and really got the audience included in the show.

I finally got to use markers this week and color code the map for Bonney Lake Days (huge excitement!) and got organizers for a binder for vendors (it made my day). We also organized the container this week after moving the stage out.

Today we have a meeting with IBEW who does the electrical connections for Bonney Lake Days to get organized and all get on the same page.

This week in the office has been about getting the vendors in thier spots, opening up new spots, getting entertainment finalized, and starting to get ready for Bonney Lake Days in a few weeks.

Again, this week shows that planning events always has something different to offer. No two weeks are ever the same. There is always a new project, problem, are event to work on.
