20 Year Anniversary of Misty Copsey's Disappearance Still Haunts Puyallup

20 years ago, 14-year-old Misty Copsey disappeared from the Puyallup Fair. Today, the Puyallup Police department hopes the anniversary sparks a lead in her case.

On this day in 1992, Misty Copsey disappeared.

The 14-year-old girl spent the day at the Puyallup Fair and missed her bus home. She called her mom that night to say she was on her way home but never returned.

Over the years, Puyallup Police have followed many leads and her disappearance is still considered an active case, with her mom Diana Smith, continuing the search for her daughter. In 1993, a pair of girls jeans and underwear were found in a ditch on SR 410. Gary Ridgway and many others have emerged as suspects.

But the fact still remains - Misty remains missing.

At the time of her disappearance Misty was wearing a navy blue sweatshirt, baggy light blue jeans, and brown suede shoes. She has a mole under her right eye and a scar under her right knee.

Read the Tacoma News Tribune series, The Stolen Child, to learn more about Misty's disappearance.

What do you remember most about Misty's disappearance? Why do you think it's still such a fascinating case today? Tell us in the comments.

If the Puyallup police were REALLY TRYING TO SOLVE THE COPSEY CASE they would have never lied about all the evidence, stopped the only GPR survey I personally had professionally lined up in May 2005 which would have found Copsey's remains on property in Eatonville belonging to Oscar Pierce; they NEVER would have lied and said Randy Achziger was investigated WHEN ACHZIGER NEVER HAS BEEN EVEN TALKED TO ABOUT THE COPSEY CASE. PUYALLUP COPS WOULD NOT HAVE CLAIMED THE RED PAINT FOUND ON COPSEY'S CLOTHES IS 'NAIL POLISH' WHEN THEY KNOW IT'S AUTO PAINT SINCE 2003, it was proven to be auto paint by Microtrace Laboratories in 2003 when it was tested and failed to match Ridgway employer paint. POLICE ARE NOT TRYING TO SOLVE THE COPSEY CASE AND ARE PROLONGING IT INTENTIONALLY INSTEAD. DNA TESTING HAS PROVEN RIDGWAY NOT INVOLVED IN THE COPSEY CASE OR THE 2 OTHER GIRLS LINKED BY KING COUNTY POLICE TO COPSEY'S CASE. POLICE CAN COMPARE RANDY ACHZIGER'S FORMER RED PORSCHE PAINT AGAINST THE RED PAINT FOUND ON COPSEY'S CLOTHES - THEY CAN COMPARE TO THE 2003 MICROTRACE REPORT ALREADY DONE EVEN WITH THE ORIGINAL RED PAINT BEING MISSING IF THEY CARED AS IT WAS ALREADY TESTED AND DOES NOT NEED TO BE RETESTED TO COMPARE IT! POLICE CARE ONLY TO SUPRESS THE TRUTH IN THE COPSEY CASE AND YOU GUYS REPORTING ON THIS CRAP ARE HELPING THEM DO JUST THAT. NOW GET THAT MICROTRACE REPORT AND SEE I TOLD THE TRUTH OR LEAVE THIS CASE ALONE IF YOU CARE THAT LITTLE.
