Arrest for Domestic Violence Assault, Plus Vehicle Prowled at Sounder Station in Feb. 1 to Feb. 6 Sumner Police Reports

The following crime information has been supplied by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Sounder Station Vehicle Break-In: A citizen reported at 3:33 p.m. that his vehicle which had been parked at the Sumner Sounder Station between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m. had been broken into and the entire center console of the vehicle had been stolen. The console contained a variety of items including CDs, a flashlight and pens; the victim also reported his garage door opener was stolen though it did not appear his home was entered. The victim reported he was sure he had locked his vehicle but there didn’t appear to be any signs of forced entry.

Vehicle Theft and Recovery: Police received a report at 7:10 a.m. that a truck parked inside a residential garage on the 5800 block of 156th Avenue Ct. E. had been stolen overnight. The garage door had been accidentally left open and the keys remained in the ignition. The victim reported a handgun was also in the vehicle, which was later recovered (both vehicle and weapon). The victim reported to police upon retrieving his vehicle that a silver Garmin Nuvi 1300 GPS unit, a Nokia cell phone charger and miscellaneous items were found in the vehicle that didn’t belong to him. He was still missing a CD case, his wallet and $100 in cash. Police investigation later led to the arrest of three people believed to be involved in the theft though at the time reports were filed, only one person was charged with this particular theft. The other two individuals had been taken into custody on other warrants.

Domestic Issues: Police arrested a man with a felony warrant out of Thurston County for failing to register as a sex offender and arrested his reported girlfriend for violating an anti-harassment order as well as disorderly conduct, after responding multiple times to a residence on the 6100 block of Parker Road beginning at 11:46 p.m.

Domestic Violence and Assault: Police arrested a man at about 4:30 p.m. on the 6400 block of 166th Avenue East in Sumner for felony violation of a no contact order, theft of a motor vehicle, fourth degree assault domestic violence and third-degree driving while license suspended after responding to the area near Schafer’s Bar following a report he was seen ‘beating up’ on a woman. She told police he had assaulted a male friend of hers and hit her as well as they sat in her car; the friend fled on foot. The suspect and the woman had previously dated but the no contact order was active. The vehicle he was arrested in belongs to her grandmother and was reportedly taken without permission. Police reports don’t indicate making contact with the female’s friend but she declined medical aid.

Feb. 6, 2013

Vehicle Theft: Police responded to Cars Trucks and Toys on the 2200 block of West Valley Highway at 10:13 a.m. for a report that the business was burglarized overnight and a 2002 Ford F250 pick up truck was stolen. Video surveillance showed two people on the premises at 3:37 a.m. involved in cutting the chain that secures the gate and stealing the vehicle.

Burglary: Police responded to a home on the 500 block of Alder Avenue after 3:45 p.m. for a report that the residence was burglarized sometime between 10 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. and about $350 in costume jewelry was stolen from a jewelry box. The victim noted both front and rear doors were unlocked and there were no signs of forced entry.
