Bonney Lake Company Firefighter Killed in Oregon

According to a local media report, a falling snag killed one firefighter and injured another.

A Portland TV station is reporting a firefighter working for a Bonney Lake company was killed by a falling tree Thursday while battling a fire caused by a lightning storm in central Oregon.

KPTV says on its website that the firefighter worked for R&K Water Services out of Bonney Lake. Another firefighter suffered injuries caused by the same tree, and was taken to a St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

KING5 has identified the firefighter killed as Jim Hammick, 60, of Redmond while Norman Crawford, 45, of Sisters was injured.

According to information provided, officials said the two were part of a group of firefighters battling a fire in the Mount Washington Wilderness, near the town of Sisters.
