Bonney Lake Man Who Pleaded Guilty To Killing Teacher In DUI Sentenced To 8 1/2 Years

Bonney Lake resident Samuel Jordan Cruz pleaded guilty earlier this month to vehicular homicide for killing Stacy Ankerfelt, according to the King County Prosecutor's Office.

A Bonney Lake man who pleaded guilty to DUI - which resulted in the death of a fifth-grade teacher in front of her Auburn home - was sentenced to 8 1/2 years in in prison King County on Friday.

The Seattle Times is reporting that Samuel J. Cruz, 25, ended up changing his plea earlier this month after he initially pleaded not guilty.

Charging papers against Cruz stated that he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he hit Stacy Ankerfelt, a 28-year-old elementary school teacher, who was standing outside of her car near her home July 19.
