Marijuana Possession, Driving on Suspended License

2:34pm: A silver Pontiac Grand Am was traveling east on Kelly Lake Road from the 2100 block. A computer check revealed that the registered owner had a second-degree suspended license. The driver matched the owner’s description, so the officer pulled her over in the Home Depot parking lot. The woman had her young son in the car with her.

The officer noted a strong smell of fresh, unsmoked marijuana in the car. She denied that there was any marijuana in the car, but finally pulled two baggies out of her purse. She finally admitted there was more in the car. The officers found three other plastic baggies full of marijuana in a computer bag. She said it was for personal use, and her husband showed up on the scene to pick up their child. The woman was charged with driving while license suspended and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Bar Fight at

1:09am: An officer was dispatched to the New Peking restaurant on a few reports of a large group of subjects physically fighting.  There were several people outside the bar shoving each other and fighting and many dispersed as police arrived. Inside the bar, a few people were restraining an ‘irate’ female. She had been fighting with other women in the bar earlier that night and bar staff were attempting to get her out of the establishment. The 21 year-old woman was yelling obscenities at another man, her brother, who had also been in an earlier altercation in the bar. The siblings were escorted out by police and their friends, but continued to scream at each other and other patrons all the way to the parking lot, while causing difficulties for the officers.

The woman told police that she had been assaulted by a 50 year-old woman at the bar and she was upset that nobody did anything about it. She appeared uninjured. Her brother told police that he was defending his sister, who had recently been raped by another patron of the New Peking, who was there at the time.

She said her son uses marijuana and alcohol and they had been arguing. She filled out a runaway missing persons report, and the next day the juvenile came home and was cleared the next afternoon.
