Bonney Lake Police Blotter, April 25 - May 9

A high speed chase down Church Lake Dr. E. and a large fight at an apartment complex are highlighted in this week's blotter from Bonney Lake.

April 25

Domestic Violence with Cell Phone

10:30am: Police were dispatched to a residence on 191st Ave. E. for a domestic violence call. The reporting party advised police that his girlfriend assaulted him then left the scene. He said he was sleeping in his bedroom when she came into his house and started yelling at him. She had given him her debit card to withdraw money and he accidentally took money out of the wrong account. He said she grabbed two of his phones and threw them against a wall. She hit another phone out of his hand and scratched and hit him many times. She got into her pickup truck and threw one of his phones out of the window, doing a ‘U-Turn’ through the neighbors’ lawn.

Police attempted to track her down and went to her parents’ house. They found the truck with chunks of green grass in the bumper that would be consistent with the story that she drove through someone’s lawn but they weren't able to contact the woman or anyone else at the residence.

Fight breaks out in apartment complex

7:32pm: Officers responded to a fight at the Forrest View Apartments off Myers Rd. E. Dispatch advised that about 15 to 16 people were engaged in a physical altercation at the complex. Police arrived and found the fight already over, but a female met up with police and told them she had been assaulted. She reeked of alcohol and said she was on her porch with her child and heard several subjects, including her boyfriend, arguing. She said that when she tried to break up the fight, she was struck in the right temple by an unidentified female and wanted to press charges.

Police contacted several suspects in one apartment. One man said he started fighting with the woman’s boyfriend and several subjects jumped in to break it up. One of the women said she was trying to break up the scuffle when the woman came outside with her baby in her arms, but no one would admit to hitting her. None of the subjects wanted to press charges or assist in a prosecution and all subjects were advised to go back to their apartments and leave each other alone.

High speed chase, eluding

12:15am: Officers on routine patrol in the 7100 block of West Tapps observed a silver Volkswagen Jetta pass by; a records check indicated that the car title had not been transferred to the new owner. By the time the officer had received the title information, the car was already well ahead of them and seemed to be speeding up to 70 mph in a 20 mph zone. The car avoided police and led them on a chase down Church Lake Dr. E., where it eventually turned down a driveway. The vehicle missed the curve of the road and collided with several objects and vehicles in the driveway before coming to a stop.

It struck a PSE pole, collided with a cedar fence, went through it and destroyed a decorative tree on the neighbors’ property. It collided into a parked vehicle, which then damaged four cars in all.

The driver exited the vehicle and ran from the scene toward Lake Tapps. He left a female passenger sitting in the car. The woman was told to exit the car at gunpoint, but she couldn’t because the door had been jammed in. She was arrested for outstanding warrants in Auburn, for theft and drug paraphernalia. She told police that she had been hitch-hiking and didn’t know the man. It was apparent to police she was lying about the situation but she refused to say more and demanded an attorney.

A K9 unit and extra forces were brought to the scene to track the man. He was eventually found under a dock and was taken into custody without incident. He had a suspended license and a warrant out of Auburn for reckless and domestic endangerment. The man admitted to eluding police, that he really knew better and the woman in the vehicle was his wife. Because of both of their injuries, the couple was not booked into jail. The man was charged with driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, hit and run, obstructing a law enforcement officer and failure to obey a police officer. The woman was charged with aiding and abetting reckless driving and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Marijuana possession, driving on suspended license

3:15pm: An officer did a routine registration check on a red Isuzu traveling on the 10100 block of 214th Ave. E. and realized the car had expired tabs. The officer stopped the driver and contacted him – he advised that he did not have a drivers license. The officer noticed the two passengers in the vehicle were acting extremely suspicious—it was approximately 60 degrees outside and the male in the front seat had multiple sweatshirts on and both hoods were on his head. The woman in the back seat would not make eye contact with the officer. The driver said he didn’t know who the people were, when questioned by police. The driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license in the third degree, having expired tabs and no insurance.

The driver was arrested and another officer came on the scene to assist with the passengers. Both were reluctant to talk to police and were fidgeting in the vehicle, so they were removed separately. The man, a juvenile, had a bag of marijuana in his coat pocket. Police were able to confirm he was a minor but couldn’t find any other records confirming his identity. His uncle, a legal guardian, was called but he too refused to tell police who the juvenile was. They were told to expect charges filed but the young man was released to his guardian.

The woman was identified and had a warrant out of Remann Hall. She was 18 years old. Due to staffing, the girl was released.
