Officers conducted field sobriety tests and the man performed poorly, and was squeezing his fists in an angry manner. On the ride to the jail, the man started becoming very angry and accused the officer of not arresting people for “breaking real laws.” At Buckley Jail, the man admitted he was “high as hell” on methamphetamine and was very confrontational with the other officers. When the man asked for an attorney, the officer handed him the phone and at that point, he threw the phone on the ground and started banging the walls of the holding cell. He told the lawyer, “I don’t want to hear any more of your s***!”

The man was put into handcuffs again and then he started to slip out of them and got angrier. He ripped off his shirt and started banging the holding cell walls and kicking the door, and refused a breathalyzer.

DUI

10:52pm: Officers were dispatched to the 19400 block of 67th St. Ct. E. on a report of a reckless driver. While en route, dispatch advised that the suspect was driving a silver pickup that was skidding its brakes, driving recklessly through the neighborhood and that the driver was involved in an argument with several subjects in the roadway. Prior to police arrival, the truck left the scene.

Police contacted separate groups of witnesses. Two people told police they heard screaming tires and gravel flying outside their house and observed the truck driving at a high rate of speed through the neighborhood. They said the truck stopped in front of a house in the neighborhood and they heard the sound of loud arguments. Officers contacted those people, who said they too heard screeching tires and yelling profanities out the window with his stereo blasting. The driver had slammed on his breaks in the middle of the street.

Officers were able to contact the man, who lived nearby. He was slurring his words very badly and appeared to be very intoxicated and angry with his neighbors. He stated he was on his way home when several subjects confronted him in the road and “came at me!” He also said one of them punched him in the face. He had no visible injuries and was stumbling. When officers asked if he’d been drinking, he replied, “maybe a little bit.” He refused to submit to a sobriety test and admitted to being arrested for DUI on two separate occasions.

The man was taken to Puyallup Jail and charged with DUI.

Anti-harrassment

10:15am: Officers spoke to a resident at the Bonney Lake police department on a report of ongoing problems with his neighbor. The man said that several years ago, he and his neighbor exchanged gunfire. But since that incident, he has tried to keep to himself. He was going to construct a fence between their properties, but one day when he was outside doing yard work, the other man supposedly began throwing trash into his yard and making statements that were not true, and complaining about long grass that was in a ditch on his property. Then, the man threatened to “kill you and your family.” The man walked away due to their prior incident, but a week later the neighbor threatened to sue the man for $5,000 and said the only way to stop the argument was to pay in cash. Then, the man began kicking out the fence boards that separated their property.

The police spoke to the neighbor, who denied making any threats against the man, and that he was just angry with the man because he removed a fence post from his property without permission. Police spoke to another neighbor, who said she had witnessed the men fighting before and was afraid of the man because gunshots had been fired in the past.

The man was issued an anti-harassment order and charges were filed with the prosecutor.
