Counterfeit Money

11:38 p.m.: An officer was called to the AM/PM to respond to a report of an attempt to pay for a purchase with a counterfeit $10 bill. The employee said that the customer who attempted to pass the bill was waiting for police contact. The customer said she had received the bill as change when she purchased a drink at a local bar. She said she did not know who had given her the bill, but would recognize her if she returned to the bar. The officer and the woman returned to the bar and she pointed out the bartender who had brought her change. Domestic Violence

7:36 p.m.: Two officers were called to a home on the report of a verbal domestic situation. The man present said that his ex-girlfriend had come to the house where he was with his new girlfriend and started yelling. He said that his ex-girlfriend slapped him. No red marks were present, and the man said he did not want to write a statement. The man said his ex-girlfriend had been texting him and told him that the new girlfriend “better get out.” The man said he was going to change the locks and look into a restraining order. Attempts to contact the ex-girlfriend were unsuccessful.

Man Caught Stealing Crates

9:52 p.m.: An officer patrolling the area near Wal-Mart discovered a man standing next to a pickup truck, into which he had been loading crates. There were about 40-50 crates in the bed of the truck, and one was propped against the front bumper, blocking the license plate. The officer was aware that Wal-Mart does not authorize the removal of crates from the property and then contacted the man. The man said he had permission to take the crates, and provided a list of handwritten first names, which he said were managers at the store. The officer contacted managers, who stated that the man did not have permission to take the crates, but that they would not press charges because the crates were old and broken. They requested the man leave the crates and stay away from the store. The officer found that the man had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the city of Kent and Pierce County. The man was transported and taken into custody by a Kent Police officer. The pickup truck was towed.

Teenage Runaways

9:14 p.m.: Two officers were dispatched to the Bonney Lake Library for a welfare check on two juvenile females. The library’s custodian located the two girls outside the building wearing only pajamas, and said they had said they were runaways and planned to spend the night outside the library. The girls told the officers that they walked to the library several hours earlier and that their parents had yet to pick them up. Upon running the girls’ names through records, the officers located that both were reported as runaways earlier in the day by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. The girls’ mother said that she has been having problems with both girls lately, and that the older girl ran away because she got into trouble that day. The younger girl, she said, is just emulating her sister. The woman later arrived and took custody of her children.
