The following arrest information was supplied by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 30

DUI

12:03am: Officers were dispatched to a report of an automobile collision that occurred in the New Peking parking lot. The driver of one of the vehicles was reportedly intoxicated. Upon arrival, officers determined that the man backed out of a parking stall and into the back of an unoccupied vehicle. There was plenty of room for him to back out, so a witness realized he was drunk and blocked his car in the spot so he couldn’t leave before police arrived. Two witnesses said the driver had been drinking at New Peking and was falling down drunk outside the bar.

1:23am: Officers responded to the area of 96th St. E. and 203rd Ave. E. for an assault. A man called and said he had been assaulted by a subject with a baseball bat. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim standing in the intersection. He was slurring his speech a great deal and appeared to be highly intoxicated. He did not have any visible signs of injury and declined medical aide.

He said that he had been beaten up and been hit by someone with a baseball bat at a residence where he was hanging out with some friends. He got in an argument with someone at the residence and then he tried to leave, and at that point the subject followed him and tried to fight.

The victim pulled the baseball bat out of his car, but he was disarmed by the other man and beaten with it. At that point, the man called police. The man only had minor abrasions on his arm, no obvious trauma and he couldn’t elaborate on the reason for the fight. Officers attempted to contact the people in the residence but no one would answer the door. The man took a taxi home and denied further police aide.

Theft, Minor in Possession

12:38am: Officers responded to the Wal-Mart for a theft in process. They stopped a suspect vehicle outside the parking lot after the manager reported a subject was attempting to steal cigarettes. The front passenger of the stopped car matched the suspect description and smelled of intoxicants. He said he drank about “10 beers” and admitted to stealing the carton of cigarettes, saying he was “stupid” for doing it.

The rear passenger of the car had beer bottles around his feet and he was obviously not 21 years old. He had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was placed into custody. The stolen carton of cigarettes was found on his person and he admitted those were the ones his friend stole. He admitted to drinking, blew a BAC of .093 and was cited with Minor in Possession/Consumption of Stolen Property.

The other man was transported to Puyallup Jail, where he was booked for minor in possession and theft. His BAC was a .086.

Code enforcement, eluding, warrant arrest and drug possession

2pm: Officers were dispatched to the 10300 block of 214th Ave. E. to assist code enforcement against two males selling merchandise without a valid permit. One of the males identified himself, then he started running westbound into a wooded area. The man had a misdemeanor warrant out of Yakima for domestic violence.

Officers set up a containment area with Chief Mike Mitchell on containment near the 21400 block of South Prairie Road. He saw the male, made contact with him as he exited the woods and was able to place him into custody without incident.

The man was searched and a pink metal can and a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana were found on him. When the officer removed the can from his pants, the man stated, “there is marijuana in that can, but I have a medical marijuana card.” He said the card was at home.

The man was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. He was also cited for obstructing a public servant, as he hindered the initial investigation of selling without a permit within city limits.

When asked why he ran, the man responded, “I ran cause I didn’t want to go to Yakima for my warrant.” He was booked at Puyallup Jail and the pipe and tin were placed into evidence.
