PROPERTY DAMAGE WITH AXE

Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 20000 block of 77th St Ct. E. A woman called 9-11 and said her son was chopping up her truck with an axe. He then took the axe and left in his truck. The man was expected to return soon because he was currently on house arrest.

The woman told police her son was living with her while he was on house arrest and she believed he was on drugs. She said he destroyed the two solar lights on the fence post entrance to her property with an axe, then he chopped into her white Ford truck, which caused a huge dent and hole in the front fender. He then proceeded to call his mother names and threatened to burn her house down.

The woman wouldn't write or complete a statement to police because she said her son was usually a nice guy and the drugs were making him go crazy. She refused to help police because she didn’t want him to go to jail.

Police warned her to call police if he returned and charges of felony harassment, threats, domestic violence and malicious mischief were forwarded to the prosecutor.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Police were dispatched to a domestic violence in progress involving a gun at a residence on the 12000 block of 68th St. Ct. E. The woman caller said her husband had threatened to kill her and he had locked himself in a separate bedroom. Dispatch advised her to exit the house through a window and get to a safe location until police arrived.

Officers located the woman outside near the detached garage and spoke to her husband, who complied with police.

The man told police that they were having marital problems due to her infidelity and the recent death of a family member. He said his wife came home intoxicated and started asking him about funeral plans, but he said she wasn’t invited. The two began to argue and he walked into the bathroom, and she said “why don’t you just kill me then?” The next thing he knew, he heard her on the phone with police. He admitted to owning several guns but hadn’t touched them during the argument.

The woman told police that they were arguing about the funeral and when she walked into his bedroom, she noticed the gun case lying on the bed. She said she panicked, ran to a separate bedroom and called 9-11. She said she didn’t believe he was going to kill her but that it was threatening.

The man admitted he was depressed and was having a hard time with his grief. He agreed to be voluntarily committed for mental health evaluation.

DOMESTIC ASSUALT

Police were dispatched to an assault behind Safeway. There were several witnesses to a fight between a man and woman.

The witnesses told police that they saw the couple exit the woods and were arguing. They went back into the woods and the witnesses followed them and saw the man punch the woman in the face. They escorted the woman out of the woods and the man told them to mind their own business.

The woman had a bloody nose and wound under her eye, but it appeared to be several days old. The man had fled on foot. She eventually admitted to police that her boyfriend had punched her while they were in the woods behind Goodwill.

Police searched for the man with a K-9 unit but officers were unable to track him down. The Goodwill manager requested that the man be trespassed from her store.

Later that day, an off-duty police officer called the station and said he saw the man near the Park and Ride on Sky Island Drive. The man was cuffed and told police he had nothing to hide and he didn’t know they were looking for him. He said that his girlfriend had convinced him to have a drink earlier after he had been sober for 7 days. They went to Goodwill then walked out to the woods, and the woman pulled out a blanket she stole from the store. He said he got angry with her for stealing it and they started arguing. He said she tried to kick him in the face but he blocked her kick and inadvertently hit her.

Police didn’t believe her injuries were consistent with an accidental hit, and they said that several witnesses saw him punch her in the face. He responded that it was self-defense and the woman was in “deceivingly good shape and had the ability to kick that high.”

The man was arrested for domestic violence assault.
