Two subjects were driving eastbound on SR 410 in a Ford Explorer when they observed an Acura driving past at a high rate of speed. They said the vehicle was weaving in and out of traffic and cut them off, causing the driver to slam on her breaks to avoid a collision. The Ford Explorer followed the Acura to the Bonney Lake Tavern parking lot, where the driver asked the other driver if he were drunk. She then followed him to the parking lot of the JB Mart, where the two drivers continued to yell at each other from their vehicles. Her passenger got out of the car to confront the driver of the Acura, who pulled out a Glock pistol and pointed it at him.

In a statement to police, the driver of the Acura said he was cut off by the Ford Explorer and they were acting unusal when they followed him into the mini mart parking lot. When the passenger approached his car, the man pulled out his weapon because the man was “large” and “scared” him to the point he feared for his life. The Acura driver had a concealed weapons permit and just wanted to “teach him a really good lesson.”

All subjects were released and the case was forwarded to the prosecutor for review of charges.

Juvenile shoplifters

11:15pm: Officers were dispatched to ampm on a report of a suspect shoplifter. The ampm employee told police she heard a scraping noise toward the door of the store, and she noticed a boy, approximately 14 year-old, sliding a box of king-sized Butterfingers out the door. She said the boy crawled into the store, on the floor under the alert sensor and stole the candy, then ran toward Fred Meyer. Officers checked at Fred Meyer, and an employee said she just saw a boy matching that description who stole six packs of cigarettes. She found him crawling on the floor near the cigarette shelf to conceal himself, then he stole the cigarettes and ran away.

Another officer contacted another juvenile in the parking lot, who was looking for her friends. She told police they went to ampm then Fred Meyer, and they had her backpack with her. She described her friend, who matched the description of the boy in question. After about an hour, officers saw two young males running north with a back pack and a mini keg of beer. They saw the officer and dropped the mini keg and ran into the woods on the south side of SR 410.

Eventually, officers caught up with the two subjects, who admitted to stealing the candy, cigarettes and a mini keg. The Albertsons didn’t realize there had been a “beer run” but once they reviewed surveillance, they saw footage of the two young men stealing from the store.

Both young men were detained then picked up by their parents, and the case was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor at Remann Hall.
