May 19

Juvenile Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

9:24am: An officer was dispatched tofor a report of a 17 year-old student with a large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A parent of another student had called the school and said their child the student was in possession of marijuana. The student admitted to consuming alcohol at and that he had marijuana and a pipe in his school bag. The security officer searched his bag and found a sandwich baggy full of marijuana, a pipe, two lighters and a scale. He told police he occasionally sold marijuana to his friends but not at school – he brought the items to school that day to celebrate his friends 18th birthday later that day. The student was emergency expelled from BLHS and charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia were forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.

Hit and Run Accident

3:48am: Officers responded to SR 410 E at South Prairie Road E. for a two-car accident. One of the vehicles ran a red light at the intersection of South Prairie Rd. E. and collided with the victim vehicle in the intersection, then fled the scene. The victim driver had minor lacerations.

Police found a license plate on the ground from the car that drove away and contacted the driver at his home the next day. He admitted he hit the car, but said he spoke with the other driver and the man gave him his contact information, then drove away. He said he called the victim multiple times to make sure he was OK, but he didn’t drive back to the scene because he was “nervous.” Officers took his statement and reminded him that, in an accident, he shouldn’t leave the scene.

Juvenile Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia

1:09am: An officer noticed a car parked in a cul de sac on the 17200 block of 109th St. Ct. E. It’s an undeveloped area and there are no houses or businesses on that street. The officer noticed three males in the car. The 15 year-old driver said they were just hanging out, but the officer could smell burnt marijuana in the car. The 17 year-old passenger told police they had smoked all the marijuana they had, and he pulled out a large glass water bong concealed on the floor next to him. The driver handed the officer a sandwich bag with marijuana in it. The driver was cited with unlawful possession of marijuana and was allowed to walk home. The second passenger was released to his parents and the vehicle was left at the scene.

DUI, Collision

1:51am: An officer was dispatched to on a report of a possible fight in the parking lot. Dispatch advised the involved parties were arguing about a collision that just took place. There was a large group of people around two cars; a Maxima with significant rear-end damage, and a Tahoe that had front-end damage. Witnesses saw the Maxima back into the parked Tahoe and a woman nearly fell out of the Maxima, she was so incoherent and apparently intoxicated. The woman admitted she was backing out of a parking spot and didn’t see any vehicles behind her. She was slurring her words and had a difficult time finding her ID and registration. She admitted to having “a couple” drinks and was given a sobriety test.

She nearly fell over and started crying and acting hysterical. When she was placed in the police car, she tried to intentionally choke herself with the seatbelt and banged her head against the dividing glass. She continued to scream all the way to Buckley Jail and refused to take a Breathalyzer test. Police punched her license and she was cited with driving under the influence and reckless driving.

DUI, Reckless Driving

10:09pm: An officer was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on the 10000 block of Sky Island Drive E. One of the drivers reported he observed a black Jeep in front of him, and it pulled over on the shoulder and flashed their beam lights several times. The car then went into the oncoming lane, passed his vehicle and cut him off while slamming on the breaks at the same time. The man said he tried to break but was unable to stop on time and collided with the Jeep. The man had not been drinking.

The driver of the Jeep said he had been rear-ended but was vague about the details. The fuel tank on the Jeep started leaking so East Pierce Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene to clean it. He was slurring his speech and his eyes were bloodshot and watery and he smelled of intoxicants. The man refused to submit to a breathalyzer test but his girlfriend, who was his passenger, admitted they had been drinking at the . The man was placed under arrest for reckless driving and DUI.
