Commerical Burglary

Police responded to Sunrise Dental at 20071 SR 410 for a report of attempted burglary. The manager said someone attempted to break in through the rear door of the business. The door handle was completely broken off and it seemed as if someone had tried to pry the door open.

The woman was warned about an increase in local business burglaries and was given a case number for followup.

They approached the vehicle, which was running with the headlights on. There were four children under the age of 10 sleeping in the car, unsupervised. An officer waited with the vehicle until a woman returned, which was about a half-hour later.

The woman said she had only been in the store about 5 minutes and said it was “no big deal.” The officer advised her that it was unsafe to leave young children unattended and she had been gone for almost an hour.

Police tried to ask her the names and ages of her children but she wouldn’t tell them. She was issued a criminal citation and called someone for a ride home.

Malicious Mischief

A woman came to the Bonney Lake police station to report malicious mischief to her car. She said that the primary driver is her teenage daughter, and that her daughter drove the car to an event at BLHS and while there, someone smashed in both of her rear tail and break lights, causing significant damage.

Her daughter didn’t know who might have done it and didn’t believe anyone had been upset with her. She said there were two other similar vehicles at BLHS, so her car might have been mistaken for someone else’s.

There are no suspects at this time.

Fight at Bonney Lake High School

Officers were dispatched to a fight in progress at Bonney Lake High School. The Prairie Rugby Club and Liberty Patriots Rugby Team were fighting on the football field.

The juveniles told police that the incident started when the occupants of a vehicle leaving the lot came into contact with three members of the opposing team. One of the students told police they were walking to his car when two people got out of a car and started ‘talking trash’ to the visiting athletes, and they started to charge at each other. Another student saw the incident and left his vehicle to help break up the fight and was struck in the mouth.

There was a scuffle between the players and one of the coaches had to put an opposing team member into a ‘full nelson’ before the fight was broken up. Even after the students walked back to their cars, there were a few more arguments before they left the parking lot. An adult male, who was later identified as a sheriff’s deputy, jumped in to break up the fight.

His wife reported that they were in their vehicle, leaving the match, when they heard the students fighting. Initially the officer did not want to get involved, but when his wife threatened to go over there and stop the fights, he exited the vehicle and began pulling the boys off of each other. Witnesses observed the sheriff’s deputy tackle one of the juveniles and punch him in the head, but those reports were not confirmed. Other witnesses said the deputy grabbed the boy and he fell on the ground and hit his head on the concrete, and that’s when the fight was over.

After interviewing all the parties involved, Bonney Lake officers decided that it was a case of “mutual combat” and that no arrests needed to be made.

Vehicle Prowl

An officer was dispatched to Lake Tapps Christian School for a vehicle prowl report. The reporting party told police that someone broke into one of the church’s box trailers some time the week before. They weren’t sure of an exact date because no one had been out to the trailers, due to the weather.

Several items were missing, including two rolling chests containing church property and $1,000 worth of tools were stolen.
