Involuntary Commit, Malicious Mischief

A woman called police to report that her neighbors were throwing rocks at her residence on the 10000 block of 219th Ave. Ct. E. Police responded to that location twice in the prior month for the same incident. The suspect was a young woman with a history of domestic violence and mental health issues. The woman didn’t like one of the people living in the caller’s house, but otherwise the caller told police she hadn’t interacted with her.

The caller’s roommate videotaped the incident on his cellphone. When police confronted the woman with the recording, she admitted to throwing rocks and shooting an airgun at the residence. When police asked her why she did it, she replied, “I had an urge.”

Police told her that if she didn’t stop she had to go to jail or be committed to a mental hospital. She is currently on probation and said she would rather be locked up in jail than committed to a hospital.

Police were about to leave the woman and were outside the residence when her father left the house with a baseball bat. He was putting it in the car and denied that the woman had tried to use it, but when police reentered the home they found the large TV damaged on the floor. The woman had hit the TV with the baseball bat and threw the remote control at her brother. Because she had become increasingly more violent, police and her family decided to have her involuntarily committed to Good Samaritan Hospital for observation.

Driving With a Suspended License, Obstructing Justice

Police were dispatched to the 11600 block of Angeline Rd. for a report of a car in a ditch that was blocking the road. The officer found the vehicle halfway in the ditch and halfway in the roadway, almost completely blocking the southbound lane of Angeline Rd. A younger man in a white truck was trying to pull it out of the ditch with a rope while his father controlled the other car.

They pulled the car out and it appeared to be undamaged. There was also no damage to any of the surrounding property and no one was injured.

The father told police he was driving and went into the ditch because he missed the driveway. Neither man had a license on them, but the father had a Blackfoot Indian Reservation ID card.

Cars started to pile up around the incident and the officer instructed the man to pull his car forward to clear the roadway. The man jumped in his car and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, leaving his son with the officer. The son told the officer he didn’t know why his dad did that and called him on his cellphone. The man answered and told his son, “Sorry, I am not coming back. I will deal with the consequences later.”

A records check on the man confirmed that he had a suspended license and a misdemeanor warrant out for his arrest. The son also had a suspended license.

Police let the man’s son leave the truck on the side of the road and walk to a friend’s house to get help with the truck.

Police put out a notice that the man had fled from police and the officer left messages on the man’s cell phone explaining that he would be charged and should turn himself in.

Student Eggs School Bus

Police were contacted by a Sumner School District bus driver, who told police that her bus was egged while she was driving through Inlet Island the day before. She said that a small car full of teenagers passed her on the causeway and a passenger leaned out the window and threw something at the drivers side window, and it bounced off the side. It was startling and made her slam on her breaks. There were three children on the bus at the time but no one was injured.

She radioed a nearby driver, who was able to get the license plate number. Police learned the car had a parking pass for Bonney Lake High School and they contacted the 18 year-old driver. He told police he was driving his friends home from school that day but was playing with the radio when the incident happened and he didn't see anything.

Police questioned the two other teenage passengers and one of them eventually admitted to throwing the eggs at the bus. He argued that he shouldn't get in trouble because he didn't hit a person, which would have been an assault. Police informed the teenager that throwing eggs at a bus was still reckless endangerment and could have caused an accident.

School administration asked Bonney Lake police to drop the case and assured they would handle the matter internally.

Domestic Violence

A man living on the 8000 block of Locust Ave. called to report his fiancée was attacking him and breaking things. Police arrived and noticed a large hole in the bathroom door and the woman inside the room, holding her infant child.

She said she had been out for the evening and her truck broke down. She said she called her fiancée but he didn’t answer because he was asleep on the couch. She walked home and woke him up; they began arguing and she grabbed her child and locked herself in the bathroom. The woman denied getting violent.

Police noticed scratch marks on her arm that looked like she had put her arm through a wall. She denied punching the bathroom door and said her fiancée did it and injured her arm.  Police told her they didn’t believe her story and she became angry with them – it was apparent to the officers that she was extremely intoxicated.

The man told police he apologized to her for missing the phone call but that he would take care of the car in the morning. He said she ripped his shirt and punched the bathroom door while he was using it.

The man did not want to press charges and told police he was going to stay with a friend for the night. He left the woman with her children and said he didn’t think they would be in any danger if left with her.

The case was forwarded to the Bonney Lake prosecutor for charges of domestic violence malicious mischief.

Attempted Vehicle Prowl

Officers were dispatched to the area of 11117 184th Ave. E. regarding a vehicle prowler in the area. Dispatch advised that the caller saw a man peering into parked car windows and trying door handles.

Police located the suspect, who admitted he had been trying door handles in the area and had broken into one car. He was arrested for vehicle prowling. He gave police his backpack, which was full of CDs that he stole.

Police found the car he broke into, which had items strewn about it. They contacted the owner at her residence, who thanked them for returning her CDs.
