WEAPONS REPORT

Officers were dispatched to a residence on 83rd St. E. for a report of a man who pulled a shotgun on another man, who was staying with him at the residence.

Police arrived to find both men “eerily calm” for a weapons call.

The homeowner said that no assault occurred and that he never pulled a weapon; he just wanted the other man to leave his property. Officers thought he seemed “genuinely surprised” when they asked him about the gun.

Police talked to the homeowner’s niece, who also lives at the residence. She said she paid the man to do some work on her car and let him stay at the residence for a week because he was down on his luck. The niece told police that she never really gave him permission to stay there and wasn’t sure how he came to live there, because he never really asked. She said that both she and her uncle were OK with it until he started sending “terrible” text messages. She said he called her derogatory names in the messages and accused her of stealing from him.

She said that the next day, she woke up in her bed to find him lying next to her. She was “creeped out” and told her uncle, who asked the man to leave. She denied ever having a relationship with the man.

Police spoke to the reporting party, who admitted sending the woman text messages because he believed she stole some of his things. He then said her uncle came to the door and yelled at him to get out and displayed a shotgun, threatening to kill him.

The man was very calm and said he believes the man is a great guy and he doesn’t want any trouble, he just wants to get his stuff and leave.

After some back and forth, police determined that there was no probable cause for arrest because both parties seemed to be at fault and neither wanted to press charges.

Police stayed by while the man collected his things and left the home. There was no probable cause to charge anyone with any crime.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Police responded to a burglary that occurred at a residence under construction on 82nd St. E. The woman reported that her home is currently being worked on for a leak and she returned from a Memorial Day camping trip to find the house burglarized.

Her computer, stereo, TV and personal identification documents were stolen. Her roommate was also missing a computer and some jewelry.

The suspects wrote “You got punked” on the kitchen whiteboard before they left. There are no suspects at this time.
