Domestic Violence

A woman walked into the Bonney Lake Police Station to report a domestic violence situation. She said that she had just been at Allan Yorke Park with her husband, where they were trying to reconcile their marriage. She said that during the conversation she became upset and walked to a relative’s house nearby. He followed her there and then she left and went back to her vehicle. He got in the car with her and while they were driving, he punched out her passenger side window with his elbow. She pulled the car over and he drove away. She then walked to the police department.

Officers drove her to her residence and contacted her husband, who was on the front porch. He said that during their conversation at the park, she threw a notebook at his face and that it cut his hand when he blocked it. He said that while they were driving down the street, an unknown object struck the window and broke it. She got mad because she thought it was him, so she pulled the car over and started walking. He then went home.

Police noted that he did have fresh injuries on his hand. His wife denied hitting him with the notebook and that he was trying to get her into trouble.

The woman was arrested and transported to Buckley Jail, where she was issued a criminal citation and no-contact order with her husband.

Domestic Violence with a Juvenile

Officers responded to a residence on a report of domestic violence involving a woman and her 15 year-old son. She told officers he punched her, then ran upstairs to his room.

Officers arrived at the residence and talked to the boy, who was sitting on the stairs with his head in his hands. He said he had become upset because a girl had posted something on Facebook that he didn’t like, and he responded in a post saying he didn’t like seeing her photo every time he logged in. He said his mother began to yell and swear at him and all he did was try and get away from her, but he never hit her.

The mother told officers he had become increasingly more violent with her, kicking her in the stomach and grabbing, shoving and hitting her. She wanted to press charges.

Officers arrested the 15 year-old for assault.

Assault, Unlawful Imprisonment, Obstruction of Justice

Officers were dispatched to a domestic violence situation involving a gun at a residence on the 18000 block of 84th St. E.

Police arrived and saw a female in the front window. They took position around the house and beckoned her to come outside. She frantically said she couldn’t come out and made a gesture with her hand that indicated to officers there was someone inside with a gun.

Police officers shattered the front window and began shouting instructions into the house. They kicked down the front door and found a white male standing just inside the doorway. He was initially compliant but then shifted into a defensive stance. Not knowing if the man was armed or not, police gained physical control over him and he became to resist, tensing his body and yelling profanities at the officers.

They searched the residence and found a shotgun in the laundry room, covered in a sheet. There was also a pistol behind the television on the entertainment center.

The man was arrested for unlawful imprisonment, assault and obstructing a police officer.

The woman told police that the two were romantically involved and living together. Both had gotten drunk and they were watching the State of the Union address on the television when the man became agitated and annoyed. She said that he grabbed the pistol and took it to their bedroom. She said this made her extremely afraid, because he had never done something like that before. After several minutes she asked him to put it away, then took the ammunition out of the gun and hid it from him.

He grew upset that she hid the gun and began to order her to tell her where she put it. She said she tried to leave and he blocked the door. She then called 911.

Both firearms returned as unregistered, after a records check.

Securing the residence after the incident was difficult and police tried to help fix the door after they left. The woman’s mother came to pick her up.

Shoplift at Rite Aid

Officers were dispatched to Rite Aid on a report of a shoplift that just occurred. The manager said that a man filled up a basket of merchandise then ran out of the store through the emergency exit toward Home Depot. He followed the man and lost sight of him as he ran toward the woods off 96th St.

Officers entered the woods and began to search for him. After about 15 minutes, they found him sitting in the woods under a tree. He was ordered to get on the ground but instead started walking away backwards and tried to find a way out through the woods. The officer had to use his Taser to get him into custody.

The man was later identified as James Haselwood, a well-known name in the police department due to his constant arrests for shoplifting and drug abuse.

The Rite Aid manager positively identified the man and he was arrested for stolen merchandise.
