Bonney Lake Police: Driver Mows Down Mailboxes and Tree, Blames Flip Flops

The following information from Sept. 4 to Sept. 10 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 4, 2013

DUI: Police arrested a woman for DUI after observing erratic driving in the area of Allan Yorke Part at about 9:40 p.m. The woman did not show signs of alcohol impairment but the officer noted she was too impaired to drive safely. She told police she had taken a sleeping pill but not since the previous morning. She was released after a blood draw authorized by a search warrant.

DUI: Police arrested a man for DUI and unlawful possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop in the Walmart parking lot at about 12 a.m. due to the vehicle having no headlights on.

Theft: Police responded to Walmart at 2:43 p.m. for a report a woman’s wallet was stolen from a shopping cart while inside the store. Officials were reviewing store surveillance for suspect information.

Theft: Police responded to a home on the 19200 block of Church Lake Road East at about 3:30 p.m. for a report someone had entered an unlocked outdoor shed and stolen a riding lawnmower some time between 8 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.

Sept. 8, 2013

DUI: Police arrested, cited and released a man for DUI following a traffic stop on the 10100 block of 214th Avenue E at about 1:45 a.m.

Reckless Driving: Police cited a woman for reckless driving after responding to a report of a car vs. mailbox collision on the 21100 block of 75th Street E at 3:22 p.m. The officer noted upon arrival mailboxes were knocked over with a vehicle backed into a tree and the tree lying over the vehicle. The woman told police her flip flops got caught on the gas pedal and she lost control of the vehicle. Witnesses said the woman appeared to have been in an argument with her husband and was speeding and driving recklessly on the residential street.

Warrant Arrest: Police arrested a man who had three misdemeanor warrants as well as a felony warrant from the Department of Corrections for escape from community custody after conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired tabs on the 10000 block of 214th Avenue E at about 2 p.m. He was also cited for driving while license suspended, the expired tabs, and having no insurance.

Sept. 10, 2013

Warrant Arrest: Officers arrested a man with a Department of Corrections felony warrant for escape from community custody after spotting him driving east on Sumner Buckley Highway at about 4 a.m.

Residential Burglary: A citizen reported at about 8:30 a.m. that someone attempted a residential burglary and vehicle prowl on his property on the 21000 block of 68th Street E overnight. The responding officer verified there were signs of forced entry via a damaged screen door to the home, but the owner didn’t think anyone entered the home. The vehicle on the property, similarly, had its driver’s side door open but it didn’t appear anything was taken from inside.

DUI: An officer arrested a woman for DUI following a traffic stop in the Safeway parking lot leading from the 9900 block of 214th Avenue E at about 10:30 p.m.
