Bonney Lake Police: Jewelry Stolen from Retirement Home, Daycare Broken Into, and Juveniles Cause Property Damage

The following information from July 10 to July 17 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 10, 2013

Property Damage:  Police responded to a home on the 18100 block of 103rd Street East at 5:03 p.m. for a report of damage to a vehicle. A resident at the home reportedly boxed in the victim’s vehicle by nailing pieces of lumber together while she was parked there and had damaged her rear window with black spray paint. He had also reportedly disabled her vehicle by removing its battery cables. A family member told police he was bi-polar and was acting increasingly irrationally. He was arrested and cited by third-degree malicious mischief.

Theft: A resident on the 19200 block of 79th Street East reported at 6:11 p.m. that four UPS packages were stolen from the front of his home. He verified the packages were delivered on July 7 but they were taken before he saw them.

Commercial Break-in: Police responded to the Kindercare on Main Street at 7:49 p.m. for a report that someone had broken into the facility. A contract worker who was permitted on site after hours reported to police finding the front door ajar and at one point heard footsteps in the building. The main office had also been rifled through. The facility director later assessed the break-in and said nothing appeared to have been stolen or damaged.

July 11, 2013

Vandalism: A Bonney Lake city employee reported at 10:39 a.m. that someone had tagged the city water tower on the 19800 block of 106th Street Court East. Damages were estimated at about $300; there were no signs of forced entry or damage to the fence.

Motorcycle Stolen, Recovered: A Buckley resident reported a motorcycle stolen from the 22000 block of 112th Street East. At 9:52 p.m., a patrol officer reported that a King County Sheriff’s detective observed a man attempting to pick up a motorcycle from the roadway on the 21300 block of State Route 410 but gave up and left the area. The motorcycle matched the one reported stolen. There was no suspect information at this time.

July 12, 2013

Vehicle Prowl: A citizen on the 9400 block of 184th Avenue East reported at 8:37 a.m. that someone had entered his unlocked vehicle sometime after 3 a.m. and stole an iPod and GPS unit from his vehicle. Two other vehicles on the property, also unlocked, had been rifled through but nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Juvenile Returned Home: Police responded to the library at 12:30 p.m. for a report of a juvenile who was reportedly harassing other citizens. Officers were familiar with the teen from earlier issues and also learned he was reported as a runaway; he told police he was ready to go home. He was released to his sister.

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to the parking lot by Rainier Board Shop at 7:07 p.m. for a report several items were stolen from a vehicle there in the last 15 minutes. The victim said he’d placed a bag containing a laptop computer and other valuables into his vehicle and locked it with the intent to return quickly. He’d left a 1-inch gap in the vehicle’s windows for circulation. When he returned, he found the passenger side window down and the bag missing. Several more items were discovered to be missing over the next few days.

Theft: A resident at Cedar Ridge Retirement Community reported to police at 10:20 p.m. that someone had entered her room while she was away in the emergency room at Good Samaritan Hospital from 12 p.m. on July 10 through 8 p.m. on July 12 and stole 8 silver dollars and 2 two dollar bills. Her room was secure when she left and she reported it was secure when she returned.

July 14, 2013

Felon Arrested: Police received a tip at Sunday morning that a wanted felon would be at the Bonney Lake Walmart store that evening. Officers were briefed on the situation and the felon, Willard S. Stewart, was apprehended Sunday evening following a pursuit in the parking lot. 

Found Keys: A citizen turned in a key on an orange NOS energy drink lanyard to an officer at Allan Yorke Park who was responding to a report of a disorderly fight. It was placed in found property.

July 16, 2013

Juvenile Trouble: Multiple charges for theft, minor in possession of alcohol, destruction of property and obstructing a police officer were being forwarded to juvenile court for four juveniles that were reportedly causing trouble in the area around 210th Avenue East and 82nd Street East around 3 a.m. Witnesses said they were ringing doorbells and running away and hiding in bushes nearby. Officers noted a downed stop sign and mailbox in the area as well that the teens admitted to damaging.

July 17, 2013

Suspicious Person: Police responded to Walmart at 2:50 a.m. for a report of a suspicious man who had contacted a woman and made threatening statements about harming police officers. Officers directed the woman to drive toward the police station and detained the man following her on 192nd Avenue East just north of SR 410. He denied making the statements but was found to have multiple warrants out and so was taken into custody for those warrants.

DUI: Police detained and later cited a man for DUI, failing to drive on the right side of the road and no proof of insurance after receiving a report at 8:17 p.m. that he was seen leaving Midtown Grill and driving away in a van while intoxicated.
